Shuffield was sent to Dallas County Prison on Thursday morning. He ended a $ 2,000 bond and was released around 2:00 pm on Friday.
He could not be approached for comment on Friday morning, but told the police he was acting in self-defense. It was unclear whether he had a lawyer. Officers were summoned to the 2800 block on Elm Street near North Crowdus Street at 4.30 pm on Thursday, where the woman told the police she had misjudged the road and stopped.
She said Shuffield got out of his car and asked her to get out of the way because she was blocking the exit of the parking lot, police said.
The woman took her vehicle to the parking lot and Shuffield got out. He turned to her and tried, according to the arrest warrant, to take pictures of the woman's license plates.
Then the two started arguing, police said. The altercation became physical and Shuffield reportedly knocked the woman's phone out of her hand as she tried to call 91
The police said they could smell alcohol while talking to Shuffield.
The KTVT-TV incident video (Channel 11) shows a man holding a gun while talking to the woman. The man hits the phone and she slaps his face.
You can see how the man beats the woman at least five times in the face or upper body.
