The Skywalker saga comes to an end. "Star Wars: Episode IX" Director J.J. Abrams and actor John Boyega shared a warm new photo from the set of highly anticipated film – leaving the fans impatient and emotional. The film is the finale in the latest "Star Wars" trilogy after "" and " ".
Abrams announced the final episode of the trilogy on Friday. The picture shows actor Daisy Ridley, John Boyega and Oscar Isaac hugging each other in a costume on a desert set. "There is no decent way to thank this truly magical crew and their performers," tweeted Abrams. "I am indebted to you all forever."
Boyega participated in the emotional moment. "It was really a pleasure to be surrounded by amazing people in these films" tweeted . "JJ Thank you for realizing my dreams."
The picture does not have many spoilers for the movie, but fans are already picking up on little details. The stars hug each other in a desert environment that could possibly be Jakku – where Rey came from and where she met Finn for the first time – or Tatooine, the home planet of Luke Skywalker, who has not appeared in the trilogy yet. Not wearing his typical Resistance uniform, Poe rocks an outfit that seems to confirm that he controls the Millennium Falcon in an earlier tweet by Abrams . And Rey seems to be back with her signature staff from The Force Awakens.
Fans of "Star Wars" flocked to Twitter to share their excitement for the new film and their sadness for the end of an era. Some fans, of course, hope for a surprise appearance from Mark Hamill – who played Luke Skywalker – somewhere in the background.
Many have the similarities between the photo and a cast photo from the original trilogy with Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford noticed.
Most of the time the photo left many questions to the fans, many of which had won. They will not be answered until the release of the film in December 2019.
