A man drove to a police station in a small town in northern California on Monday and told the officers that he had killed four of his relatives – including a person whose body was in the car right outside the door.
] The man whose name was not published was from his apartment in Roseville, California, more than 200 miles away, to the Mount Shasta Police Department, the authorities said. The other three bodies were found in the apartment, it said.
The man was held Monday night at the police station in Mount Shasta, a city of more than 3,200 residents, about 220 miles north of Sacramento, said Sgt. Robert Gibson of the Police Department. He said the man had not yet been officially charged.
"He just got in." and told our dispatcher that I'd like to commit a murder and then just give it up, "said Sergeant Gibson. "I've never had anyone come in with a body that turns in here. That was unusual for us. "
He said that the man" did not say anything about why or what triggered this.
Sergeant Gibson said police initially do not believe the man when he said he killed his family. Then the man handed the keys to the officers for the red Mazda sedan he had driven to the station with the body, as Sergeant Gibson said.
The killings are being investigated by the Roseville Police Department.
The authorities have not done so Release more information about the victims on Monday, with the exception that the man referred to her as his family. The victim the man brought to Mount Shasta police was a man, Sergeant Gibson said.
It was not clear where the victim had been killed.
Sergeant Gibson declined to comment on the cause of death. He said the authorities did not believe that other suspects were involved in the killings.
