We know from previous trailers that the second season of The Umbrella Academy sends the Hargreeves siblings into the 1960s, where they have to band together to (again) prevent the apocalypse from happening. However, a new look at the opening scene this season shows that the apocalypse is coming sooner rather than later.
In this clip from Episode 1, Five falls out of a swirling vortex on November 25, 1963 and finds downtown Dallas on fire, Soviet tanks storm the city and of course his siblings in the middle of the action. And as with all legendary action sequences on the show, an unexpected selection of music begins to play: Frank Sinatra̵
Based on the comic strip by Gerard Way (yes, this Gerard Way), The Umbrella Academy Six super-powerful siblings follow, raised by an eccentric and controlling father who reunites after his death. The first season ended with the end of the world and the siblings leaping through a swirling vortex of time that apparently dumped them all in the 1960s.
The second season of The Umbrella Academy falls on Netflix on July 31.
