Fujifilm has announced an extraordinary new premium compact camera, the Fujifilm XF10, which features a large sensor and a fixed 1: 2.8 fixed focal length lens. The small pocket-sized pocket computer may not have the same lens flexibility as many of its X Series siblings, but it packs 24.2 megapixels from an APS-C sensor.
The goal is indeed to deliver strong image quality, but in a form factor that could encourage you to travel on the XF10. In short, you might think of the new Fujifilm as the company's attempt to bypass your smartphone as an everyday camera. To hammer home that fondness, there are a few useful features.
Since the viewfinder provides approximately 279g of viewfinder space, control and framing are possible thanks to a 3 "touch screen and a few physical buttons and scales. Use the touchscreen to swipe to a square mode that creates a one-to-one image for sites like Instagram. With Bluetooth 4.2 you can wirelessly transfer images from the XF1
Meanwhile, the 18.5mm Fujinon lens – equivalent to 28mm in 35mm format – promises no artifacts or sharpness loss on the edges of the image. With the digital teleconverter function, the XF10 can also mimic a 35mm or 50mm focal length in 35mm format. The minimum focal length is 10 cm from the lens tip.
If you really want to be old-fashioned, there are several movie simulation modes. In fact, the XF10 offers 11 modes to choose from. This ranges from PROVIA to Velvia with greater saturation and darker blacks, sepia for retro shots and PRO Neg. Std, which prioritizes accurate skin tones and softer saturation for portraits. Advanced filters for HDR, monochrome (NIR), and more add more styles that you can choose from without having to spend your time searching through Instagram filters.
At the same time, there are some strange choices. The XF10 can record 4K video, but only at 15 frames per second; Basically, Fujifilm is putting together several shots to make a video, though the result could be a bit choppy. If you want something more useful, look instead at 1080p.
The Fujifilm XF10 will be available in August and will be available in both champagne gold and black. It is priced at $ 499.95.
