The Bears have grown since the 20-second lead against the Green Bay Packers in the first week and the brutal loss to the Miami Dolphins in Week 6. On Sunday night, 25- 20 against the Minnesota Vikings, the Bears showed this growth in the final stages – and it was not just a unit that turned the team on its back. Attacking, defense and special teams ensured that the 7-3 bears in the NFC North scored a 1-1 lead.
This was not an easy game for the bears, not after Mitch Trubisky was intercepted and Tarik Cohen's fumbling had suddenly brought the Viking to life in the middle of the second half. These two sales led to field goals – a testament to the game of defense of the bears ̵
Eddie Jackson's election with six and a half minutes to go seemed to seal the match (or at least it probably sealed the place of Pro Bowl safety). However, the Vikings were able to bring an eleven-time, 64-yard hit to get back within a score.
Trubisky had his biggest hit of the day before a knockout round and the uncertain outlook of returning the ball to a team that had fired the Minneapolis Miracle in January: a 17-yard dash from Allen Robinson, which the first down turned , Supported by a penalty from Harrison Smith, who hit 15 meters on a five-yard trubisky fight, the Bears moved within range of the field.
And then Cody Parkey – the guy who stepped in front of an empty soldier's field and two news helicopters during the week – set the game out of reach with a 48-yard field goal. Almost the entire Bears team ended its sideline bid to greet Parkey and showed the kind of spirit that Matt Nagy and his leaders in this group had since their first meeting in April.
The Bears also needed this kick when Kirk Cousins found Stefon Diggs in for a 48-second touchdown that brought Minnesota back to scoring. Benny Cunningham took a sideside kick – something the Bears failed to do against the Detroit Lions last week – and defeated the win.
This was a game the bears might not have won in September. Maybe you did not win it in October either. A young team that teamed up in the first year as head coach, a dominant defense and a more than good rape, won it in November against a good team. And they proved that they can do it in December.
And also in January.
