UPDATE: Ennio Morricone has responded to the article by Playboy Germany citing him as offensive director Quentin Tarantino. Morricone said he never interviewed Playboy Germany, and all the information was "totally wrong". He said Quentin Tarantino was "a great director," and he greatly loved her collaboration in The Hateful Eight .
Here is Ennio Morricon's full statement (via IndieWire) trying to set the record:
Quentin Tarantino is busy making Hollywood once a time for a release of 2019, This time, however, it is unlikely that he will take the efforts of the experienced composer Ennio Morricone. Morricone scored The Hateful Eight in 2015 after working with Tarantino on some of his various other projects. In an interview with Playboy.de, however, he showed that he has no great thoughts about the prominent American director. He went so far as to call Quentin Tarantino "cretin". Here is his comment, roughly translated from the German original.
My German is not as smooth as my English; The word "cretin", however, really springs out in this statement. The popular Italian composer also worked on a number of popular films, including Sergios Once upon a time in the West and Once Upon a Time in America Movies That Once Upon A Time In Hollywood the title is clearly modeled. It does not really seem like he respects that nod.
This is not the first time that Ennio Morricone has grappled with the director The Hateful Eight The Hateful Eight . He had previously revealed that Quentin Tarantino had asked him to work on [IngloriousBasterds but that he had no interest in the busy schedule on which he had previously worked on projects such as Kill Bill Vol. 1 and 2 films on which he landed soundtrack credits. Tarantino was choosing a song that they had previously worked on. Then Morricone changed his mind and again played music for The Hateful Eight . After the first comments Morricone said that they had been taken out of context and that he had "great respect" for Tarantino. Maybe he did not choose his words carefully this time?
The 90-year-old composer has been in business for a long time and has seen many famous directors come and go. While Ennio Morricone admits he prefers "greats" like John Huston and Alfred Hitchcock, he admits that some of his problems with Quentin Tarantino may be due to the way in which both men enjoy working. Tarantino seems to play things quickly and easily, while Morricone admits that he prefers more time to prepare a composition.
