NATO indicates that a US soldier was killed in Afghanistan Service member was "in action" killed without providing further details.
President Donald Trump abruptly broke off talks last week to end the longest American war. He cited a recent Taliban attack in Kabul, the Afghan capital that killed an American soldier.  ___
An Afghan official said five civilians died when their vehicle hit a roadside bomb in western Farah province, beating women and children. He says the bombing took place on Sunday afternoon near the city of Farah, the provincial capital.
Nobody immediately took responsibility for the bombing, but the Taliban are active in the province and launched an attempt to capture Farah earlier this month. The insurgents briefly occupied an army recruiting center and set fire to it.
Two civilians were killed during the fighting and evicted from the city after air raids on the Taliban.
