The Marrero School endures the second day in a row, with one third of the students absent

One-third of students enrolled at the Ray St. Pierre Academy in Marrero were absent on Tuesday (January 29), the second day of high-level sick leave. Fifteen of the children suffer from confirmed flu cases, others have flu-like symptoms, said Jefferson Parish public school system spokesman.

On Tuesday, 122 students were missing in a school that had enrolled 332 from pre-school to fifth grade. On Monday it was 110 more than 110:54 who did not report at school and 56 who went home early.

"At no other school have we seen a large number," said school system spokesman Ted Beasley. [1
