A South Carolina mother was arrested after police reported she had poured herself water on a sleeping 9-month-old baby face, in retaliation for waking up "- and posted the video to Facebook.
Caitlin Alyse Hardy, 33, was charged with child cruelty after the authorities began investigating the disturbing images on Facebook, police said in a press release. Hardy allegedly took a bottle of water and threw her into her little daughter last Saturday when she slept.

A video showed Hardy pouring water on the infant a second time, causing the baby to wake up and start coughing.
Several people contacted the sheriff's office in Sumter Report the disturbing pictures and videos after they were uploaded to Hardy's Facebook page, reports FOX46. The original contribution of Hardy was supposedly titled "Payback for the awakening of all times of the night" provided.

. "The indictment of this defendant [Hardy] will fully track the scope of the law," Sheriff Anthony Dennis said in a press release.
The police said the Sumter County Social Services Department was notified.
