A police officer was killed Wednesday in a traffic disruption in downtown Newman in Central Valley, prompting a full search for the suspect.

33-year-old officer Ronil Singh was shot dead shortly before 1 am, Stanislaus County Sheriff's Office reported. The shooter fled the scene before other officers responded to gun shots.

Pictures of a man seen around the time of shooting in a supermarket and the truck he suspected of being driven were released in the gray or silver extended cab Dodge Ram 1500, model year 2002-2009 , with paper plates.
