Blizzard has discovered the next hero to join Overwatch, his beloved, popular multiplayer shooter.
Hero 28 is called Wrecking Ball and he's a hamster named Hammond, who controls a threatening 'Mech suit.
Within The Overwatch Lore, the wrecking ball, is the result of scientific experiments made by the giant gorilla hawk Winston. The wrecking ball escaped with Winston the Horizon Lunar Colony as the animals launched a rebellion and permanently removed their masters
Hammond's Mech appears to be his crashed escape pod, which he transformed into a frightening gladiator weapon.
Jeff Kaplan made crystal clear in the developer update video that Hammond can not speak English and communicates cheekily through his heavily modified Mech suit AI.
The lovable hamster-mech hybrid is a tank class with great agility. Hammond rolls around the map, smacking enemies and dealing massive damage.
His ability to fight with hooks also allows him to tie his big metal suit around a point and swing like a spinball and beat opponents in submission.
While in Hammond, he can also stack the ground and smash his enemies.
If not spherical, Hammond is a quadruped carrying dangerous, fast assault cannons to break enemy armor. He can also armor himself with armor that scales based on the number of surrounding enemies.
His ultimum is called Minefield and finds Hammond throwing a salvo of proximity pits out of his suit into his immediate vicinity. They are clearly visible, but destructive when triggered.
Wrecking Ball is currently on the Overwatch PTR (Public Test Realm) server on the PC, which you can download from your Blizzard client.
If past exploits bring something over, the new hero should be live on all platforms for the daily game over the next few weeks.
