Kemp says the family is speechless after two years John Weir's life was taken. The child was kidnapped Friday night by his father Steven Weir from Atwater.
"The family is devastated, they lost a father, they have a son and it's a really difficult time," said Kemp.
A nationwide Amber Alert was issued on Saturday morning. The search was discontinued in Tuolumne County nearly two days later.

On Monday morning, detectives announced that they had found the bodies of John and Steven.
The church in Gateway Church is doing its best to raise the family.
"They do not replace humans, but you can be there to put a hand on your shoulder and say an encouraging word and do what we can," said Kemp.
Action News spoke to John's mother Sarah Weir earlier this week describing her son.

Kemp shared a message on behalf of the family with those who are struggling with mental health issues.
"You just want to make sure that people have understood that if you are struggling with a problem, do not sit in the rubble of the trouble." Start with the reconstruction and just take one step, just do one Thing and try to take a step towards health and wholeness, "he said.
