NASA has flown a probe closer to the sun than ever before to another spacecraft that captured an incredible image just 16.9 million kilometers from the surface of our star.

Now, NASA has unveiled the groundbreaking image that Parker had taken on November 8 during a raging flyby. It shows a bright coronal streamer (essentially solar material inside the solar atmosphere) that emanates from the left side of the image.
The space agency says that the bright object in the center of the image is Mercury, while the dark spots are a result of the background correction.
