KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – A soldier from East Tennessee, who recently returned home from abroad, died after being handcuffed and repeatedly shot by someone who needed to be captured.

Jacob Dean's mother The 35-year-old bishop found him dead at 7:30 am on October 1 in his duplex apartment on Shaw Ferry Road North in Loudon County.

After a knocking answered No, the mother used a spare key to open the door, went in and found her son's body on the living room floor, guider said.

Bishop, father of two children, served in the 278th Armored Cavalry Regiment of the Tennessee Army National Guard, according to his obituary. Soldiers of the regiment returned in May after spending nine months in Poland as part of an initiative to strengthen NATO's presence in the region.

Investigators asked the public on Tuesday for a vehicle that they believe could be linked to Bishop's murder.

Witnesses reported seeing a white SUV in the days before the murder in the area, authorities said.

"We work tirelessly and around the clock to bring the party (s) responsible for the murder of a US soldier to justice and to close the bishop's family," said Guider.

Bishop left behind his fiancée Brittany Kindred, who had written an emotional Facebook post after his funeral. She remembered sharing a kiss with Bishop after his plane landed in Tennessee and said she had kissed him one last time before retiring on Monday.

"My children and I stood side by side with his kinship and not (allied), all united as a whole family to honor a man whom we all loved so much," Kindred wrote. My heart is shaken and crumbling even more when I see my boys crying and asking questions.

"They do not understand. None of us does it. All we can do is stay united and move forward to further the fight for justice for Jay.
