MONTGOMERY, Alabama – After a series of mysterious health problems, an Alabama woman finally discovered what caused her – a 50-pound ovarian cyst.
Doctors removed the benign growth, diagnosed as a mucinous cystadenoma, in May according to WSFA
"I could not even go to my car without losing my breath," Kayla Rahn told the local news channel in Alabama. Rahn said she was plagued by stomach problems, pain and weight gain for months before surgery.
The doctors first told her that she needed to lose weight, but Rahn said she just got heavier, no matter what she did. [1
When the discomfort became unbearable, she went to the Jackson Hospital emergency room and after several tests doctors found the big growth. "This is one of the greatest I've ever seen or safely removed," Dr. Gregory Jones vs WSFA. "We are very excited that she was fine."
Rahn said she was thrilled to finally find out what was going on, and now enjoys the added benefit of wearing all the clothes in her closet again. "I could not wear this dress for a year," Rahn said with a chuckle.
Now she urges others suffering from an inexplicable disease to repeatedly urge their doctors to answer and become strong advocates for themselves.
