As we approach the (alleged) release of Samsung's (allegedly) fixed Galaxy Fold handset, a funny thing happens again and again. Folding smartphones not only seem to be an important part of Samsung's long-term product roadmap, so the company continues to patent one foldable design after another, but we may now have a first idea of what the Galaxy Fold 2 might look like. 19659002] It seems that two weeks ago, Samsung filed three new patents for foldable phone designs. They were published on Monday in the database of the Intellectual Property Office of the European Union, and the team of the Dutch website for technical news LetsGoDigital has created color reproductions (above) based on the sketches in the patent documentation.
These patents reveal three new foldable Samsung designs (where LetsGoDigital speculates that these could be 2020 models). Two of the designs are similar to what we get with the Galaxy Fold in September, with one major difference being that they are unfolded in these new designs.
A third design instead shows a horizontally foldable telephone of a vertically folding telephone:
Often they affect the coverage of the permit of such patents designs that were processed and applied some time ago. Again, it is interesting that all this has been created and approved in the last two weeks in a hurricane. And it's an intriguing thought – since the design Samsung has chosen for the first Galaxy Fold is so similar – it should be remembered that this might give us the makings of the Galaxy Fold 2.
The IFA 2019 Starts in September So there is a chance that we will hear about Samsung's finalized Galaxy Fold release date. But apparently the company is already working hard on the next steps.
