Fighting games like Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat have found comfortable homes on the PC, and even Soul Calibur is making the next leap. But we still lack platform fighters like Nintendo's Super Smash Bros., though Smash Bros. itself can of course be played on an emulator. Games like Brawlhalla have caught some of the same magic (and are very funny themselves), but I think there is still room for another great platform fighter. DimensionsVS An upcoming free-to-play fighting game bluntly designed after Smash wants to fill this space.
DimensionsVS supports up to four players in local or online multiplayer and can be played with a gamepad or keyboard (although a gamepad is recommended). The goal is to knock your opponents down by doing damage and throwing them off the stage, and you can do them in either time trial or stock-based mode. It all looks a lot like Smash, especially after the challenge mode "Break the Targets" and the Bubble Shields.
One notable difference to Smash is the way that DimensionVS does damage: Dealing with damage reduces the opponent's health by 200. Another notable difference is the small roster: DimensionVS currently has only six characters (over the man learn more) official site ). According to developer TeePee Studios, this is one of the reasons why DimensionVS enters Steam Early Access next month.
"We do not feel we've reached the amount of content that DimensionVS releases in its current state can be acquired through real money or currency in the game," says TeePee on Steam . "By releasing Early Access, we can bring the game to you as quickly as possible while creating important content and informing you before the installation what you can expect from the game."
TeePee plans to end early access in early 201
