Thousands of Puerto Ricans gathered Wednesday in the Commonwealth capital San Juan to demand the resignation of Governor Ricardo Rosselló, the second mass demonstration against the embattled leader this week gray to signal their dissatisfaction with the government – and Rosselló called for resignation. Protesters of all ages said they were fed up with the corruption of elected officials and the crippling austerity measures that have reduced the necessary services in recent years.

"Puerto Rico has suffered so much and we can not cope with the cynicism of this Leadership, "said Martin in a video message published online nline. "Enough, enough."
Residente published a song online Wednesday calling for people to take to the streets in the midst of the island's political crisis.

The hashtag #RickyRenuncia, Spanish for Ricky Resign, was announced during a Monday protest on Twitter that drew hundreds of people into the same cobblestone streets in Old San Juan. Some police were injured and several people arrested.

The dissatisfaction with the government culminated this week after 889 pages of news from a to a private chat between Rosselló and several other members of his Administration has leaked. The messages contained profane, sexist and homophobic comments addressed to other elected officials and to Martin.
Some contained jokes about the deaths after Hurricane Maria.
Two officials resigned after the scandal.
Days before the news leaked, several former officials – including the former Education Secretary – and contractors were arrested as part of an FBI corruption investigation.
Karla Villalon said her children were forced to change schools when a school was closed for budget cuts. She was upset when Rosselló's former Education Secretary was arrested and accused of having federal contracts with politically-related contractors.
"It's the last straw," she said. "My children's classrooms have mold … There has been so much indignation over time."
The Puerto Ricans also participated in smaller demonstrations on mainland America, including New York, Orlando, Miami, and Philadelphia and Austin ,

Lin-Manuel Miranda, the Broadway actor who created the musical "Hamilton," led Lin-Manuel Miranda to 200 people at Manhattan's Union Square at a rally.
"Puerto Ricans are so deaf to politics in America and we're getting lies from the Trump administration," said Miranda, adding that the alleged corruption around Rosselló is "the last straw and Puerto Ricans stand up against it."  The Associated Press contributed to this report.
