Just a year after the cancellation by ABC, Tim Allen's Last Man Standing is preparing for a possible return to television.
A source tells ET that Allen has signed a deal returns his hit series, this time on Fox, and there are ongoing negotiations with the rest of the original cast and executive producers.
Allen excited excited speculation among the fans of the canceled series on Thursday when he went to Twitter, writing, "You heard all your voices people !! LMS could only be a reality. Keep it up." Who wants more #LastManStanding? "
The sitcom originally ran six seasons, the last episode ran on March 31, 2017. The news of the program's cancellation came two months later, on the 10th May, and met with displeasure from the fans as well as confusion.
Already in season six, the show was the second best sitcom on ABC, the cancellation was somewhat surprising, and the reasons for the decision were somewhat complex.
Last Man Standing was a coproduction between ABC and 20th Century Fox Television, the latter covering production costs for the first six seasons. According to reports, if ABC had renewed the series, the network would have been responsible for these costs, which was an issue they did not want to shoulder.
20th Century Fox Television is now in negotiations with its sister company Fox Broadcasting to revive the sitcom for a seventh season.
While fans of Last Man Standing will undoubtedly be enthusiastic about the development, they can disappoint those looking forward to a [Heimberick's] possible revival, for which Allen's interest earlier this year had shown.
ET spoke with the veteran sitcom star in March at the Elton John Aids Foundation's Oscar viewing party, where he said he was open to the possibility of seeing his beloved '90s sitcom making a comeback and follows the same path as Roseanne, Full House and Will & Grace .
Still, he still longed for ET's return from Last Man Standing and said, "I still miss Last Man Standing ." We did not get our seventh. " I worshiped this show. It's like having a new dog and now back to the old dog. I dont know. I like both characters, but yes, I would be very interested in this idea. "
