So who's going to taunt that for the Steelers?
During the NFL Draft last year, it was Chicago, Tennessee and Dallas. They were the teams that tied themselves to the three thoroughbred linebackers of the first round, who would have been perfectly integrated into the defensive system of Pittsburgh.
And might have helped close the gap left by Ryan Shazier. Roquan Smith went to the Bears in Slot No. 8. Leighton Vander Esch went to the Cowboys at 19. The Titans traded before the Steelers at 22 to steal Rashaan Evans, many of whom think he would have made the choice here.
This year the top of the Steelers remains constant. They are still looking for a side extension, a 3-down inside linebacker. The problem is that many other teams are looking for exactly the same thing.
Two players in this position were considered outstanding by most analysts: Devin White and Devin Bush of LSU
For most of the fake designs I've ever met, both players have been among the first 1
The Steelers claim 20th place. So you see the dilemma if you do not act as you did last year.
Here are the teams that could play the most significant role in confusing the hopes of the Steelers to either land the "Devins".
# 4. Oakland : As if we have not heard enough about the Raiders in this off-season, right? I've seen white projected as high as fourth place on silver and black. However, most prospects seem to indicate that Oakland is leaning towards the defensive line, especially Alabama Quinnen Williams.
This makes more sense as Oakland found both Brandon Marshall and Vontaze Burfict in the linebacker last month.
. 5. Tampa Bay : This seems to be the sweet spot for white. Many outlets seem to think that the Buccaneers are desperate to replace another LSU insider linebacker in free agency – Kwon Alexander (San Francisco) – with another in White.
The team's own website even published a prediction of the NFL network Team Picking White.
DraftWire.com's Luke Easterling, a Boy Scout who is a Tampa-type and has already coached the team in the past, told us that some of the hype could be misleading.
Steelers fans hope he is right. Even if White drops some spots, this could put Bush in a tradable area.
No. 6. New York Giants : It is believed that the Giants have the best odds for Duke quarterback Daniel Jones. But they could try to wait for him until they have found their first selection in the preliminary round at No. 17. The Americans Joseph Allen, Josh Rashan Gary and Houston's alleged Aaron Donald clone Ed Oliver have also been targets for Big Blue.
If not, I've read that white can be tied to Big Apple.
No. 10. Denver : Assuming White has disappeared at this point, this may be a logical goal for Bush, as the Broncos have voluntarily lost Marshall to the Raiders.
No. 11. Cincinnati : The Bengals enjoyed the cornerstone of William Jackson III before the Steelers defeated him three years ago. With the loss of Burfict, they would very much like to do so with Bush this year.
If – somehow – none of these teams take on White or Bush, the Steelers might be able to make a deal with Green Bay at No. 12, because the Packers are supposed to think offenses and …
… oh. No matter.
Who are the good cornerbacks or pass rushers that may be available?
