An infant died after police in Westchester County shook the child's blade on Saturday afternoon, authorities said.
The woman allegedly stabbed two Mamaroneck police officers on Chestnut Avenue. At about 1:30 pm, after the officials found the girl who needed "medical attention," the police said.
The police called an ambulance for the child and found the 28-year-old woman while they searched the house. She refused "numerous verbal instructions from officials to show their hands," police said.
According to the authorities, the woman attacked two of the officers with a knife.
Cops said they tried to numb the woman to overwhelm her, but the taser was ineffective. A police officer then shot the woman.
The authorities did not say how many shots were fired.
The wife and child were both taken to a hospital where the girl died, police said on Saturday night. It was not immediately clear how the child died. An autopsy is pending.
The injuries of the officers were not life-threatening.
