Minecraft and GTA V have dominated the last decade, but where do they rank among the bestsellers of all time?

There has always been games in a numbers-obsessed industry. Sega vs. Nintendo defined a generation in the 90s, while today's rather mild console wars and monthly NPD reports keep sales numbers at the forefront of game-related discussion. With this continued emphasis on performance, one of the industry's biggest questions has always been: what are the best-selling video games ever?

To answer this question, we have set ourselves the goal of creating the most accurate list possible through financial reports, news, interviews and more. The result is the following list of the ten best-selling video games of all time (as of March 201

9).

(Notes: We've counted pack-in games toward sales, considering that all ten games on this list are bundled together at one time, along with a console.) Free downloads are not counted as sales and therefore close Games like Fortnite and League of Legends.)

  Diablo3

Original Release Date: May 15, 2012 Platform [s] : PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Xbox 360 , PlayStation 3, PC [19659005 IGN-Score: 9.5

In August 2015, three years after its first release, Diablo III proposed 30 million copies sold, according to Activision Blizzard: The Action RPG was first released released on the PC before it came for the last and last generation consoles in 2013 and 2014. In November 2018, a Nintendo Switch version was released. Considering the fact that sales have not been made in nearly four years, this is a period that includes the launch. In fact, the total amount of Diablo III could be several million copies higher and possibly one or two posts on the list.

* It is unclear whether the number 10 on the list belongs to this list to Diablo III or The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. According to Rolling Stone's interview with Todd Howard, the same 30 million milestone was reached last year, despite having been released six months previously. For this reason and as both games are still largely available on the same platforms, we give Diablo III the advantage, though Skyrim can take the lead. In the meantime, New Super Mario Bros. (Nintendo DS) and New Super Mario Bros. Wii have sold 30.8 million and 30.22 million copies respectively, putting their latest reported sales on both Diablo III and Skyrim. However, we assume that both games have passed this mark in recent years.

While some revenue is unavailable (and likely to be hard to calculate given its many variants and platforms), Henk Rogers The executive director of the Tetris Company told VentureBeat that Tetris had paid 425 million mobile downloads , in addition to "about 70 million" sales of physical games. Given that this figure was reported in 2014, it can be estimated that the total of 495 million has now risen well over 500 million.

Modern variations of the classic are published to this day; Tetris Effect was a 2018 IGN Game of the Year nominee, while Tetris 99, a Battle Royale-inspired puzzler, was released last month for Nintendo Switch.
