Lexus is the leading brand of Toyota Motor Corporation in the US, but in Japan, the top model is the Century. The Century was first sold in 1967 and represents Toyota's highest level of craftsmanship, luxury and comfort.
Twenty-one years after its last redesign, the 2018 Century brings the third generation to life in Japan. According to a company release, Toyota is only planning to sell 50 of the chauffeur-driven cars per month.
The price list for 2018 starts at 19,600,000 yen or $ 178,164 at today's exchange rate. For comparison buyers, the base price of the Century is about the same as the price of two well-equipped Lexus LS saloons 2018, two 2018 Toyota Land Cruisers or five top-of-the-line Toyota Camry V6 XSE 201
A A Look At the exterior of the century reveals its purpose. The interior of the rear seat is proportionally larger than in most sedans, indicating that the important people are sitting there. The front seat of the chauffeur is by no means cramped, but much smaller than the accommodations in the rear.
You could think of Century as a Rolls Royce, especially from the side. The similarity seems intentional. Designing the Century "as an attractive eternal design that adds tradition and dignity," Toyota explains the "aesthetics of the passive symmetry of the luxury vehicle" while using a proprietary ideology aimed at creating a royal backseat.
Century's intricate front grille features the hand-engraved Phoenix emblem required for six weeks by an experienced craftsman after Toyota.
The 2018 Century has a hybrid drive that combines a 375-hp 5.0-liter V8 and a 221-series PS electric motor for a total of 596 hp. According to Toyota, Century's power-combo delivers 13.6 kilometers per liter of fuel – about 32 miles per gallon.
Standard equipment includes active noise control and electronically controlled air suspension.
The 2018 century includes Toyota Safety Sense with four components. Pre-collision system prevents or reduces the hitting of objects, vehicles and pedestrians. Lane Departure Alert uses audible and visual alerts to let the driver know when the vehicle is moving off the lane with a standard lane-keeping assistance that will pull the wheel to keep the vehicle on course
Radar Cruise Control with All -Speed tracking helps keep the distance to a leading vehicle, and the adaptive high beam controls the headlights. The blind spot monitoring and the parking aid are standard equipment.
If you have not realized from the outside of the Century that the rear compartment is intended for the buyers of this vehicle, the interior will guide you in the right direction. The rear seating area has a raised ceiling with a luxurious ceiling material. The left passenger seat has an adjustable legrest with integrated pneumatic massage function.
The Century's back seat features an 11.6-inch infotainment display on the back and a 12-channel 20-speaker audio amplifier. A 7-inch display in the rear center armrest allows the VIPs to control the car's audio system, air conditioning, massage function (left-hand seat only) and rear curtains on the side rails.
