TMZ reports that Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker was involved in a car accident on a Friday morning bus (July 13). According to the report, Barker was about to turn his black Mercedes while a school bus also turned and collided with him.
"Law enforcement" told TMZ that the bus did not carry anyone but the driver, and Barker was not to blame for the incident. There were passengers in the drummer's car, although no injuries were reported at that time. The airbags of the vehicle were however triggered. Pictures of the aftermath can be found on the website of TMZ.
Apart from this accident, Barker is also dealing with blood clots in his arms that have forced him to take a break from drumming. Blink announced the news in a statement saying he was "closely monitored" and that he would not be able to work until after being released by his medical team.
TMZ soon after reported that Barker had been admitted back to a hospital in Los Angeles with a staphylococcal infection and cellulitis, which is a type of skin infection. At the time, doctors reportedly saw his body responding to blood thinners, hoping the blood clots would not make their way to his heart or lungs.
Earlier this week, a video was released with updated fans about Barker's current state. In the clip, the footage of the flashing drummer gives way to a meeting with his doctor. His doctor revealed that he had the "trifecta" of infection, inflammation in his arms and superficial blood stains. Barker received a "week by week" approach, but his doctor said he felt he would be back soon.
Blink-182 are currently returning from the road, with plans to return Sept. 14 at Chicago Riot Fest. They also have additional dates and more Las Vegas Residency shows at the Palms Casino from October 19659007 See where Barker in our Top 66 Hard Rock + Metal Drummers Of All Time List:
