The Manhattan Attorney's Office is investigating whether some of the $ 107 million in donations to the founding committee of then-President Donald Trump had been missed, the Wall Street Journal reported Thursday.
Federal prosecutors have also reportedly questioned Richard Gates, former partner of former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort, who pleaded guilty in February to the special commissioner Robert Mueller's conspiracy and lies blame.
Gates, who had worked with Russell's investigators on Russia's investigation in the 2016 US election, served as vice chairman of Trump's founding committee. No immediate comment on the report. A spokesman for the US law firm in Manhattan denied CNBC's request for comment.
