President Donald Trump said late Sunday he hopes to hold a meeting with the Senate minority leader, Chuck Schumer (NY), in the ongoing crisis along the southern border, in the near-constant reports of dirty, overcrowded detention centers indignation raised by Congressional Democrats and human rights activists.
"Senator Chuck Schumer has gone to the southern border with some Democratic senators. That's a GREAT thing! "Wrote the president late Sunday. "… He must have seen how dangerous and bad the frontier is for our country. It is not a "manufactured crisis" as the Fake News Media and its Democratic partners tried to show. He said he wants to meet. I will call a meeting immediately!
A Schumer spokesman did not immediately respond to HuffPost's request for a comment.
Schumer was one of a dozen Senate Democrats who visited a customs and border guard detention center in Texas on Friday, in which he experienced "terrible, terrible" conditions.
