The House Oversight and Reform Committee voted late Wednesday broadly party-political in contempting Barr and Ross for submitting Congressional summonses for documents relating to Trump's adding a Citizenship Question to the 2020 Census. The high-stakes vote took place just hours after the announcement by the Justice and Commerce Department that Trump had asserted the executive's privilege over the preloaded documents.
The vote took place one day after the House of Representatives decided to authorize Committee chairmen with more legal powers to enforce their subpoenas, and the struggle between the Trump administration and the House Democrats against the President escalated further.
