Later on Sunday, Ocasio-Cortez wrote on Twitter that the country from which she "originates" and "swears to" is the US, and suggested that Trump "is angry because of being an America, that includes us, can not imagine. "
Ocasio-Cortez, Tlaib and Pressley are US citizens, while Omar was born in Somalia and immigrated to the US at a young age. According to the New York Times, Omar became a citizen in 2000 at the age of 17.
