Two new COVID-19 cases, no new cases on Friday



ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – The Ministry of Health and Social Services reports two new cases of COVID-19 on Friday. The cases were reported in Nome and Douglas, a municipality in the city and in the Juneau district.

Norton Sound Health Corporation reported the Nome case on Thursday, and this new case brings the total number of Nome cases to two.

One of the cases is between 10 and 19 years old and the other is between 20 and 29 years old. One is female and the other is male. There were no new recoveries of the virus, so the total recoveries for the state were 356.

There were no new deaths or hospitalizations, and the state conducted 41

,446 tests, according to the DHSS.

“As we approach Memorial Day weekend and Alaska enters phases 3 and 4 of the responsible Alaska reopening plan, I would like to remind the Alaskans that the virus is still present and encourage everyone to continue taking personal protection measures for that we have been practicing for months, ”said DHSS Commissioner Adam Crum in a prepared statement.

A total of 404 cases were reported in the state, with 38 active cases reported on Friday.
