A hot hatch with 520 hp and 720 Nm? This is the Ford Focus RS optimized by Mountune. The famous Ford tuner has introduced two new power upgrade packages called m450 and m520. Both upgrade kits replace the original turbocharger with a specially designed BorgWarner EFR turbocharger to dramatically increase performance.
The m450 package plans to replace the OE turbocharger with the BorgWarner EFR-6758 turbocharger configured by Mountune to give the 2.3-liter EcoBoost 50 hp engine. The m450 uses the unique "low inertia gamma-Ti turbine wheel" to achieve a maximum output of 450 hp and a torque of 580 Nm. The production car makes 350 hp / 470 Nm.
Incorporating double row ceramic ball bearings provides faster acceleration and higher speeds thanks to lower friction and higher response rates of the new turbo.
Also included in the m450 kit are the Mountune Ni-Resist Cast Turbo Adapter, the V-Band High Flow Sport Cat and Downpipe, the Turbocharger Gasket Kit, and the Mountune 5-Ply Compressor Outlet Silicone / Stainless Steel Inlet Hose Clamp Set ,
The m520 package raises the discontinued all-wheel-drive RS to a whole new level. While some of the m450's m450 package is left over, the Turbo has been re-upgraded to a Mountune-configured BorgWarner EFR-7163 unit.
In addition, the m520 features an XtremeDi fuel pump and revised / improved camshafts and valve trains, which together with the turbocharger and a revised ECU calibration bring the most important values to 520 hp and 700 Nm.
With the m450 and m520 packages, including all hardware, fittings, and tubing required for installation, both kits are a simple addition to those already using the m400R or m400X ,
The m450 and m520 upgrades are now available for purchase from GBP 2,950 (15,966) or GBP 5,975 (RM 30,313) including VAT (VAT) in the UK. The new products will soon be available at the Mountune online store, according to the Brentwood-based company.
"Please note that both kits require engine-internal hardware modifications to ensure that the RS provides the performance you expect safely and reliably," states the disclaimer. Crazy stuff!
