This straight in-UCF will not give up its self-proclaimed "national championship".
On Saturday, the Knights held their spring game at Spectrum Stadium in Orlando and played for the first time in front of their fans since 13-0 in 2017, arguing that – even though they were not picked up in the College Football playoff – they did in fact national champions instead of Alabama were.
Obviously, UCF still holds on to this claim, having unveiled a "2017 National Champions" mark during the spring game.
In honor of the Knights, they have defeated Auburn ̵
This is slightly different from playing through an SEC plan, resulting in a one-loss record that led both Alabama and Georgia to Selection Sunday.
Nothing says "inferiority complex" like the assertion of a nonexistent national championship. It will be interesting to see how the Knights do in the post-Scott Frost era, but if the revelation was an indication, false "glory days" will surely pass them.
