The women's UFC 237 headline title in Women's Straw for Women received green light for UFC 237 after champion Rose Namajunas and challenger Jessica Andrade gained weight on Friday in Rio de Janeiro, but a pay-per-view Main card was canceled and a fighter was seriously overweight.
Neither Namajunas nor Andrade had problems with the Libra, both of which weighed 114.5 pounds for their strawweight title fight.
It's the first time in over a year that Namajunas entered the Octagon after taking Joanna Jedrzejczyk's belt and defending him in an instant rematch against them.
Andrade goes into battle in a three-way winning streak, their last loss to Jedrzejczyk in May 201
The scheduled UFC 237 opening battle between Francisco Trinaldo and Diego Ferreira has been rocked on Friday over the past two years.
Trinaldo made it to Libra, where he weighed 154.5 pounds for the lightweight competition. Ferreira has never arrived. According to Guilherme Cruz of MMAFighting, the Brazilian Athletic Commission of MMA (CABMMA) pulled Ferreira out of the fight when she learned that he had developed kidney stones.
The status of a preliminary fight between Irene Aldana and Bethe Correia was still undecided at the time of publication, as Correia's weight missed hard. She got on the scales at 141 pounds for her 135-pound fight and was given no extra time to reduce weight.
UFC officials announced that Correira has been fined 30 percent of their felony for Aldana and the fight continues as planned.
The remainder of the battle map remains intact, with legendary middleweight Anderson Silva launching the UFC 237 Co-Main Event slot against up-and-coming rival Jared Cannonier.
Silva was one step away from another title shot before his last fight, but was able to prevail against the interim UFC middleweight Israel Adesanya in the last UFC 234 headliner. They were planned as the main event before Robert Whittaker was torn from his main battle with Kelvin Gastelum for a medical emergency requiring surgery.
Cannonier enters battle following victory over former World Series of Warcraft Two-bout winner David Branch struggled as he attempted to rise in the title fight after falling back to centerweight with this £ 205 fight was.
Silva and Cannonier put on each weight. Jose Aldo, one of the greatest featherweight masters of all time, is battling home fans when he meets Alexander Volkanovski.
Aldo won his last two fights after battling UFC Featherweight Champion Max Holloway. Volkanovski, however, is 19: 1 and drives a 16-fight winning streak, which includes six fights in the Octagon.
Aldo needed a towel at the cradles, but had a lead of 146 pounds, while Volkanovski put on 145.5 pounds.
