UFC 249 results, highlights: Vicente Luque wins the bloody war against Niko Price after a devastating left hand

After only three fights in the UFC 249 event, the sport seems to have officially started again. The preliminary part of the map on Saturday night started with a welterweight collision between Niko Price and Vicente Luque, which had the potential to become a fight of the night contender. The two men exceeded these expectations and battled an early contender for The Fight of the Year before a left hook from Luque Price did enough damage to force the doctor to end the fight late in Round 3.

Luque (18-7-1) and Price (1

4-4) wasted little time getting to work, and both men threw heavy strikes. While Luque’s leg kicks were successful early on, Price’s right hand landed steadily. A right hand from Luque in the first round, however, caused Price to swell, which later predicted major problems in the fight.

The wild exchange would continue in rounds 2 and 3 as Price swelled as he continued to fire heavy shots at Luque’s head. Late in the third round, a beautiful left hand from Luque Price stumbled backwards and to the ground. After Luque had followed him onto the mat, he got up and greeted the fight on his feet again.

But the damage was done when Price’s eye was swollen. Since Price could not see, the doctor informed the referee that the fight had to be stopped and the competition was canceled at 3:37 in round 3.

With the win, Luque recovers from a loss to Stephen Thompson in his previous game. He is now 7-2 since 2017 and 11-3 since joining UFC.

“I definitely think I’ve gotten better since my last fight and I’m still here. I’m still here to be relevant and build this division and finally fight for that title. I still have a lot to improve. I I’m 28 years old, I’m looking forward to it and I’m looking forward to how much I have to improve, “said Luque after the fight. “I couldn’t show everything I improved because Niko is a clumsy guy and he came in hard and tried to get me out and put me in different situations, but at the same time I was satisfied with my performance. And considering how everything I chose this camp, it wasn’t the ideal camp where everything was going, but I feel good and had fun there. “

Price came from a Knockout of the Year candidate in 2019, posted by James Vick in October. He is 6-4 in his last 10 fight.
