Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) returns today (May 27, 2018) to the injured store to play UFC Fight Night 130 from the Echo Arena in Liverpool, England, which will be broadcast on FOX Sports 1. Being Welterweight Showdown Stephen Thompson against Darren Till while Neil Magny plays Craig White in the co-headliner.
UFC's welterweight has seen a resurgence in the last year with many top contenders rising rapidly to challenge the current division king Tyron Woodley. While there are several veteran veterans like Rafael dos Anjos, Robbie Lawler and Stephen Thompson who occupy the top spots, it seems that a lot of young blood takes the lead. The best of them is Darren Till, the undefeated Briton (1
Original Card vs. Current Card:
The Main Event was originally set for a showdown between Gunnar Nelson and Neil Magny before "Gunni" was forced out of the event with an injury. Despite Jorge Masvidal's attempt to slip into the slot, Craig White was eventually called by promotion.
In addition to Nelson being wounded by the injury, Davey Grant was forced out of his fight against Manny Bermudez three days before the fighting night due to a severe battle with a staph infection, which also drove him out of the race ,
White received the call to confront Neil Magny in the short term after Nelson had been forced. He will do it in a winning streak with four fights. Carlo Pedersoli Jr. will also enter the Octagon for the first time and win his winning streak against Brad Scott seven times. Molly McCann and Gillian Robertson will also give their official Octagon debuts, and they will do it against each other. Click here for a detailed overview of all UFC rookies.
How The Prelim's Look:
The "Premims" subcard portion of the event is not stackable, but it is led by a middleweight showdown between headliners Daniel Kelly and Tom Breese. In addition, Elias Theodorou – MMA's first ringboy – will be making his long-awaited return to the cage with Trevor Smith in the first fight of the night and a single fight on the UFC Fight Pass.
Who needs a victory?
After his unbeaten career (7-0), Darren Stewart's UFC career was a failure. In his Octagon debut, he scored a win in the first round against Francimar Barroso, but it later became a "no contest" after an accidental head butt. From there it went downhill, as he dropped his last three in the Octagon. Losing his fourth place in a row could mean the end of his UFC career.
Interest Level: 6/10
UFC's PPV plan (summer pay-per-view) will reinforce the heat with a staggered event after the next one, with many of the key names, so you know there's not much hype and well-known fighters who distribute themselves to the "Fight Night" brand events. While today's main event is intriguing – now more – the rest of the main map selection leaves much to be desired.
