The Tor Browser is based on Firefox, so you get benefits like tabbed browsing, but not. No direct connection to websites. Instead, it uses a network of encrypted servers that route requests across multiple links, hiding your IP address and identity. It was possible to connect to Tor with a smartphone before using the Orbot / Orfox app. However, it is already integrated and connects to the network each time the app is opened.
