Under the hood of Amazon's surprising new delivery service and the $ 1B acquisition – GeekWire

This week, like so many, was filled with big announcements from Amazon. First, the company introduced a new last-mile delivery service to compete with FedEx and UPS. But there is an interesting twist: despite the workers in Amazon shirts delivering packages from Amazon vans, the service is actually not run by Amazon.

To supplement this news, the company also announced the $ 1 billion acquisition of the Boston company PillPack. It's a pharmacy delivery service that puts prescription drugs right in front of the customer's door, making it the first big step in a healthcare market.

And in startup news, we're entering a record-breaking round of funding from a Pacific Northwest startup. I probably never heard of it.

On the Random Channel: A dazzling red lipstick that took the internet by storm and the surprising phone call of a colleague.
