DES MOINES, Iowa (KWWL) – The Department of Human Services today announced that UnitedHealthcare is leaving the IA Health Link program in the coming months.
Currently members can continue to see their current providers. IA Health Link members can choose to receive coverage from the Amerigroup in Iowa or Iowa Total Care.
Here's a full explanation from Governor Kim Reynolds today:
I thought it was unreasonable and untenable.
"From the day I was sworn in as Governor, I pledged to ensure a sustainable managed care program that protects patients, supports providers and keeps insurance companies accountable.
We still have Worked in good faith with lawmakers to improve the managed care system, including a significant increase in funding over the past year. "Unfortunately, UnitedHealthcare has continued to make additional demands that I find unacceptable, including a provision that "I want to assure Iowans that the state will work closely with UnitedHealthcare over the next few months to minimize disruption and ensure a smooth transition to the other two managed care."
