Although we know from Universal Orlando Resort's plan to bring to life Super Nintendo World at Universal Studios Florida since 2015, it's been a long time since we heard anything about this new country in Florida. It's not necessary To relocate this new area to the current resort, but to build it in Universal's Epic Universe.
While waiting for news on the Florida version of this country continues, Universal has just confirmed some important new details about the first Super Nintendo world, which will soon be available at Universal Studios Japan. And if this version of the country is the version planned for the Universal Orlando Resort, it may be one of the best theme park areas ever!
In this new country there will be two rides based on classic Nintendo characters.
According to Tom Williams, chairman of Universal Parks and Resorts (who recently spoke at a media, communications and entertainment conference), the new country of Super Nintendo World at Universal Studios Japan is said to be less than one Year to be opened in early 2021!
When the Super Nintendo World opens, Williams has confirmed that there will be two rides: an Omnimover style inspired by Yoshi and a true Mario Kart experience. Although Universal refused to provide any additional official information, rumors suggest that the Yoshi ride will be particularly impressive, offering over 40 animatronics and scenic park views from one of the highest points in the Super Nintendo world.
The world will be interactive in a way that goes beyond the park.
Although the interactivity in theme parks was nothing new to Potter, these experiences were thanks to the innovations that were last seen on Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge and The Wizarding World of Harry historically limited to activities in the park. However, Super Nintendo World will change the way guests interact with a theme parkland long after they leave.
When guests enter Super Nintendo World, they receive special magnetic Mario bracelets to track their score in interactive games in the park. These special bands (which guests can keep) are then synced to a guest's Nintendo home console so they can continue their Super Nintendo World adventure from home. While we do not know if this will be unlocked through games, downloads, or anything else, the idea of bringing a piece of Super Nintendo World home and being able to meaningfully interact with it outside the park is really exciting. and definitely a feature we want to learn more about as soon as possible!
