The two South Korean couples who were vacationing in northern Phitsanulok Province in northern Thailand were on a ferry crossing a river that crossed the course as the Women's Golfcad collided with the men, the AFP reported ,
The crash knocked all four people into the river, and the two women were rescued by nearby fishermen, the agency reported.
The bodies of the two men – Sung Jun-yong (68) and Ha Jae-oong (76) – were later found after more than 50 rescue workers searched the muddy waters.
According to AFP, the villagers found the body of one of the men hovering near a temple more than a mile from the scene of the accident.
"Your women said they both could swim, but I think the reason for the drowning was the strong undercurrent," said Lieutenant Colonel Suwat Suawatmontri.
The couple had come to their holiday on Christmas Eve.
