At least 13 al-Shabab fighters were killed in an airstrike off the Somali capital Mogadishu, the US Army said.
In a statement released on Saturday, US-Africom said the attack took place in Gandarshe. 48 km south of Mogadishu on Friday.
"In support of the continued efforts of the Federal Government of Somalia to reduce al-Shabab, the US Africa Command air-raided al-Shabab fighters near Gandarshe, Lower Shebelle, Somalia February 2019, "the statement says.
"The US African Air Force is currently assessing this thirteen (13) militant air strike, which stated that no civilians were injured or killed in this air strike."

Al-Shabab is an armed Al-Qaeda group that is struggling to overthrow the country's western support government. The group regularly conducts attacks against the Somali military and against troops of the African Union-mandated peacekeeping force AMISOM.
On Thursday, a US Army air strike killed 24 al-Shabab militants in the neighboring Hiran region.
On Saturday, a suicide bomber al-Shabab detonated at an explosive control point occupied by Ethiopian troops in the southern city of Bardhere.
Local security officials told AFP that four Ethiopian troops had been killed in the explosion.
