Sweethearts were owned by the New England Confectionary Company, famous for NECCO Wafers. Spangler Candy, owners of the Dum-Dum lollipop brand.
Spangler Candy told CNBC that the transaction was completed in September and the company did not have time
Valentine's Day has been a celebration of Valentine's Day since 1902.
According to the candy's website, the present-day Sweethearts candy has been part of Valentine's Day since 1
store shelves in time for Valentine's Day 2020. NECCO Wafers, which is to be removed from store shelves, will return later this year.
