Vikram Moon Lander: Time is running out until scientists can contact the probe

India's space agency is running out of time to make contact with the country's Vikram lander, which made a nerve-wracking descent to the lunar surface earlier this month.

The Indian space research organization has lost contact with the unmanned persons probe in the final stages of a daring moon landing on September 6. Communication with the lander was lost when it was only 2.1 kilometers from the lunar surface.

Subsequently, Vikram was discovered from outer space on the lunar surface. The Chandrayaan 2 orbit and the Agency's technicians have since been working to connect. However, they are in a race against time to make contact with the lander in which the six-wheeled Pragyan-Rover is located.

Vikram and his rover have a lifespan of one lunar day, which corresponds to 1

4 earth days according to ISRO. This means that the probe will reach its end of life on the 20th of September.

It is not yet clear what damage the lander suffered during his descent. The US, Russia and China are the only other countries that have landed successfully on the moon.

Spaceflight Now reports that NASA's Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter was flying over the Vikram landing site on September 17, capturing images of the spacecraft's lunar surface.

The $ 140 million Chandrayaan-2 mission is designed to investigate permanently shaded lunar craters containing water resources confirmed by the 2008 Chandrayaan Mission.

Earlier this year, Israel's unmanned Beresheet spacecraft crashed on a lunar landing trial.

India's first moon mission, Chandrayaan-1, orbited the moon in 2008 but did not land there. However, an impact probe was launched, intentionally bouncing against the moon.

Chandrayaan-1 was in operation for 312 days.

The Moon is of great importance to the space programs of some countries. China, for example, was the first country to successfully land a probe on the other side this year when the Chang # 4 lander landed on the lunar surface on Jan. 2.

The US also targets the celestial satellite and plans to land American astronauts, including the first female, by 2024.

The Artemis program will also establish a sustainable human presence.

NASA has recently announced details of its vision for the Artemis Moon Lander.

Vice President Pence announced the launch of the Orion Capsule on July 20 to mark the 50th anniversary of Apollo 11's moon landing at the Kennedy Space Center. This will allow American astronauts to return to the satellite.

Since the Apollo 11 astronauts Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin entered the surface, only 10 other men, all Americans, have gone there.
