- Vivo has officially shown the Vivo Nex 2 smartphone with two screens.
- The phone has a large main screen and a smaller screen on the back. Vivos mobile also offers a triple camera configuration on the back.
We came across allegedly leaked images of the Vivo Nex 2 a few days ago and showed us a phone with a peculiar dual-screen design. However, we did not have to wait long for the official confirmation as Vivo has released an official image of the device in all its glory.
The Chinese brand posted an image of the dual-screen smartphone at Weibo and its website a nearly steady-free main screen. If you look at the back, you will find a smaller screen surrounded by thick panels.
On the back of the Vivo Nex 2, there is a triple-camera setup (along with a strange camera hump) on the upper bezel. No cameras are displayed on the front of the device. Therefore, you probably need to use the trio with three cameras and the second screen for your selfies. Hopefully, the company relies on the normal / widescreen / telephoto setup, as you know it from LG V40 and Huawei Mate 20.
We do not know much about this new device, but the battery life is certainly a problem if we see smart phones with two screens. Hopefully, Vivo will either provide great second screen energy saving features or the phone will have a large battery.
This is not the first screen-style smartphone we saw this year, when the Nubia X was launched last month. The Nubia device has a second display that camouflages itself in the back cover of the phone and produces a rather noticeable effect. Decreasing even further, we have seen the YotaPhone and Hisense A2 series, which offers e-ink displays on the back for reading and other tasks.
It seems that the current trend of dual-screen smartphones is another alternative to the cleavable display notch. We've also seen sliding phones this year that deliver notch-free displays, hiding earpieces, sensors and cameras on the sliding mechanism. How long will it take to get phones with selfie cameras under the display?
We do not know when the Vivo Nex 2 will hit the market, but hopefully it will be released outside of China. Would you like to buy a smartphone with two screens?
