Volkswagen will develop the final generation of combustion engine technology vehicles by 2026, the company's chief executive officer said Tuesday.

"In 2026, the last product launch will be on a platform for internal combustion engines," said Michael Jost at the Handelsblatt automotive summit conference at the Volkswagen headquarters in Wolfsburg.
