VW extends its offer by another purely electric ID concept vehicle. This time it is an all-electric SUV named ID ROOMZZ, and a production version will hit the market in 2021 – first in the Chinese market.
The German automaker has unveiled a series of ID concept vehicles with its new MEB platform, which will launch its new all-electric vehicles by the end of the year.
There is the ID, a golf-size hatchback that is expected to be the first production EV for the 2020 model year. VW also unveiled the ID VIZZION sedan, the all-electric crossover ID. CROZZ Concept there is the I.D. The electric microbus from BUZZ, which we have learned to produce in 2022 in Hanover, was recently introduced with the ID. BUGGY, a fully electric dune buggy.
Now, in the run-up to the Shanghai Auto Show, they introduce the ID ROOMZZ, a full-fledged SUV.

Klaus Bischoff, chief designer of the Volkswagen brand, commented on the new electric SUV:
"This SUV is a monolith which seems to be made seamlessly from a solid block. The battery powered ID. ROOMZZ moves effortlessly – noiselessly and without emissions ",
Regarding the powertrain, VW says that the ID. ROOMZZ is equipped with an 82 kWh battery for a range of up to 450 km (WLTP) or 475 km (NEDC, China). "
They say that the battery supports a charging power of 150 kW for a charge of 80% for half an hour.
The battery pack feeds two electric motors on each axle with a "system output of 225 kW / 306 hp (electric 4MOTION)".
In these two engines the ID. ROOMZZ can "accelerate to 100 km / h in 6.6 seconds and reach top speeds of up to 180 km / h (electronically controlled)."
According to VW, the vehicle is equipped with the latest self-propelled technology and the interior is designed for this.
In autonomous mode, the seats can lean back and pivot to facilitate conversation between passengers.
Volkswagen says a "production version" of ID ROOMZZ will hit the market in two years, and "be first" for the Chinese market.
