Walmart announces locations and dates for free drive-in theaters

Walmart has released the locations across the country where store parking spaces are converted into drive-in theaters.

The retailer will be showing a selection of films in partnership with Tribeca Enterprises starting later this month as the coronavirus pandemic continues to force the public to social distancing.

The first performances begin on August 1

4 and last until October 21. According to the company, 160 Walmart locations take part in the pop-up event.

Locations in Tampa, Wesley Chapel, Bradenton, Pinellas Park and Lakeland are included in the list. Other locations in Florida include Mulberry, Spring Hill, Winter Haven, Inverness, Miami, Pembroke Pines and Avon Park. You can view the full list and schedule by clicking here.

The films shown include current hits such as Black Panther, Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse and Wonder Woman as well as older favorites such as The Wizard of Oz, Space Jam, ET and Ghostbusters.

With many traditional cinemas remaining closed across the country, drive-ins have risen in popularity again.

The Walmart drive-in theaters also offer in-car food and drink.

The company said the family-friendly events will feature hit films along with special appearances by filmmakers and celebrities.

All films start at 7:30 p.m. and late entry is not allowed. Tickets are free, but must be requested in advance and are not available at the entrance. Guests must stay in their vehicles.
