Dubai: Do you want to experience weightlessness like astronauts do when they are in space?
If you are a student in the United Arab Emirates, here is your chance.
The Mohammad Bin Rashid Space Center (MBRSC) offers 20 award-winning students the chance to experience Moon and Mars weightlessness aboard a Boeing 727 in Florida in the US in October.
Titled UAE Zero Gravity, winners can conduct their own scientific work under three conditions of gravity similar to astronauts on the International Space Station. This initiative is in line with the MBRSC's ambitions for future exploration and discovery of space, as well as the Mars 21
Yousuf Hamad Al Shaibani, MBRSC Director-General, The contest is another step in the UAE's journey, showing the country's steady investment in young talents seeking to be part of science and space programs.
"These programs serve to support national interests in the future and to actively participate in global space, exploring and exploring the perspectives of human life in space and supporting scientific research that will help us achieve the ambitious vision of the United Arab Emirates "To become a leading country in the global race for the red planet."
Adnan Al Rais, director of the Mars 2117 program at MBRSC, said the contest offers a unique scientific experience for the future generation of space explorers in the United Arab Emirates too allow you to join the country on its way into space.
"We will select 20 happy students to board with us in October, encouraging all budding astronauts to attend and looking forward to strengthening the ambitious spirit of the participants," he said.
Interested students can apply via the MBRSC website, where they are asked to answer three questions either in writing or through a video. You can talk about what experiment they would perform under weightlessness.
The winners are selected to participate in a parabolic flight that simulates the conditions of microgravity through a series of maneuvers (called parabola) that reach the weightlessness of the passengers. During each parabola, the passenger experiences weightlessness for up to 22 seconds.
Parabolic flights are used to prepare astronauts for their missions before they travel into space for the first time Scientist Stephen Hawking
