BEIRUT – A group monitoring the Syrian war said at least two members of its military were killed and 11 injured in explosions at a military airport on the outskirts of the capital.
The UK-based Syrian Human Rights Observatory said Sunday It is believed that the explosions that shook Damascus were caused by an Israeli strike.
Syrian pro-government media destroyed Israel's bombings. But state media later cited an unnamed Syrian military official as saying the explosions had been caused by an electrical malfunction in an ammunition depot nearby.
The observatory relies on various sources to oversee the war.
The government has blamed Israel for earlier attacks on the airport. Israel rarely recognizes such strikes, but has recently targeted suspected Iranian posts in Syria.
