Warriors Vs. Trail Blazers Result: Kevin Durant, Klay Thompson sets the tone as Golden State gets back on track

OAKLAND, California. – The Golden State Warriors ™, the longest defeat since 2013, came to an end thanks to a 125-97 home win over the Portland Trail Blazers on Friday. Again, without All-Stars Stephen Curry and Draymond Green, the Warriors left brilliant performances by Klay Thompson and Kevin Durant to achieve the much needed victory.

Durant scored 32 points, eight rebounds and seven assists, while Thompson added 31

points in 12:21 shooting. Damian Lillard led the Blazers with 23 points in 9:24 shooting.

KD does it all

Durant is one of the purest scorers in basketball history, but the warriors had far more than just a hit from him Curry and Green from the lineup – he did everything on Friday. KD not only eased the attack and found open teammates, but was also incredibly defensive and made the right turns as he picked up steals and blocks along the way. This was the performance the Durand Warriors had been waiting for and it came when the team really needed the Trail Blazers. He was extremely aggressive in the search for his shot early (which led to oddly contested looks) and he quickly became hot, giving the warriors an early source of points. After crossing a pointer with three pointers he had been fouled in the first quarter, Thompson stepped energetically toward the bleachers, urging the crowd to grow louder. From the jump it was clear that Thompson on Friday had the need to prevail. He also took over the third quarter when he inflamed the blazer for 15 points.

ROARacle is back

Oracle Arena has been relatively quiet in the past few games, but a big second quarter run brought life back into one of the loudest arenas of all sports. The crowd seemed to thrive not only on the exploits of Thompson and Durant, but also on the "strength in numbers" ball movement that audiences in Oakland are used to. It was like someone shook a lemonade bottle during the last few games, and on Friday the warriors opened the cap. They will try to win two wins from Oracle if they see the Kings on Saturday (8:30 pm ET – in FuboTV with the extension of the NBA League Pass).

Lady Cheering Section

Oakland-born Damian Lillard always has many fans when visiting his hometown, but the Friday section was particularly impressive. Just behind the print line in a luxury box was a dozen Lillard fans each time the All-NBA Guard touched the ball, and almost every time he scored a hit, hysterically, even when the blazers were big. Although Oakland may be the bottom of the warriors, there is a special section dedicated to Lillard.

The warriors back?

The big question now is whether it was a single-game event, or whether the warriors corrected everything, what was wrong with them emotionally and spiritually? In the home games against Kings and Magic Golden State has the chance to win a winning streak before it goes to a tough road trip. But a relapse against the kings would bring back all the fears and disappointments they have experienced in recent weeks. We have to see them playing in a row on Saturday, but the good news is Curry could be back on Monday.
